Movie Review: U Me Aur Hum
Rent DVDs of some good Hollywood movies (read 50 First Dates and The Notebook), lift the main plot (read Alzheimer), add Indian masala (read stretch emotions to the max), explain every minute detail (read test audience's intelligence and patience), promote the movie heavily (read pay to write good reviews), mix it well and what do you have - U Me Aur Hum! It's unbelievable how Ajay Devgan has stretched an 1 hour story into a 3 hour movie. Right from frame one, it was obvious what's gonna happen next. I am sure there would be some takers for this tear jerker, but excuse yourself from watching this movie if you are anything like me. Yawn...
Ajay Devgan and Kajol tried hard to recreate the magic of Pyar To Hona Hi Tha. Alas, they are too old now to play the lovey-dovey anymore. They acted good nonetheless. However, they were letdown by poor screenplay and editing. Agreed, the movie had a few good moments (I really liked the Pakeezah sequence which was beautifully done) but they were too less and so far spread that you tend to lose interest in the proceedings. I do like to watch serious movies on serious subjects but they have to be interesting. Nothing can be more predictable than U Me Aur Hum. Not much new to offer, it kept giving me the sense of having watched it before.
Karan Khanna provided the very desirable light moments while Isha Sharwani looked beautiful (and dumb). Sumeet Raghavan and Divya Dutta did well as the unhappily married couple.
Music was boring with most of the audience failing to understand the lyrics of the songs most of the times unless they read the subtitles. It's another thing that I prefer watching to reading. Vishal Bhardwaj's title song "Apne rang gawaye bin mere rang mein rang ja..." was the only soulful number but by the time it came, I had already given up wondering if Krazzy 4 would have been a better choice.

I agree wid u Vijay... rightly said... bollywud dese dayz has becum more or less a business... content is being neglected heavily... thanx to guys like Aamir, Dibakar Banerjee & SLB, dat v get 2 see some substantial moviez in between (TZP, KKG, etc)... Although a few shot in 'U, me n Hum' were gud... but d entire planning 2 make audience weep, torture n get carried away thru d gamut f emotions flopped in a disastrous manner... Both Ajay n Kajol luk 2 old on screen.... it ws just 2 synthetic n artificial... d story cud have been told in 90 minutes... n if ppl say that one cant make a gud movie in 90 minutes, PLZ GO N WATCH BHEJA FRY (75 min)...

I saw movie this morning.what a movie.they both performed outstanding.excellent love story by ajay devgan.its completely directors movie.first half is romance &comedy and second half is full of emotions.first rate goes to kajol it doesn't mean second rate goes to ajay.I am sure the movie will get an award for next year.ajay has done complete justice to the movie.first blockbuster movie of 2008.the movie is not abt U or ME its abt HUM.I encourage each & everybody to go & watch it.my rate would be 4.5/5.

pathetic movie. drags so much. we just wanted it to get over and then realized it was just interval. so another 1.5 hrs of pain was remaining. we decided to leave. total bakwas.

Vijay, we should be thankful to you for genuine reviews. Indiafm and rediff are so biased and lengthy that we hardly trust them anymore. I always recommend this site to all for genuine reviews. Keep it up! We also saw U Me Aur Hum. It was very boring and nothing new.

uhhhhhhhhh, what a pathetic movie, what is wrong with Ajay and Kajol?? Kajol was her ugliest best. Sorry Ajay u failed miserably in touching our emotional chords.

What a boring film. kind of funny but a day before it was released kajol's dad died. did he see this film???? it was bad. even ajay's other films sunday and halla bol were at least worth watching. this film you can't sit through. the reviewer is right. bad film
save your dough and buy some ice cream.

The movie sucked from start to finish, its one of the wrost Indian movie I have seen this year, Ajay must have been drunk when making this movie plus he sucked too, Ajay is to blame for making such a sucky movie and its not Kajol fault, I still love her and she look hot as usual. Please avoid this movie at all cost.

The movie UMAH was a crap!!!!
Went to see it after reading so many raving reviews on the net but now I wonder this was just to please the Devgans???? I was never so disappointed I expected a lot after Aamir Khan's TZP but then TZP was a class apart. Aamir is far superior just compare UMAH with TZP or even Fannaa which had Aamir with Kajol not long ago.

I must say I'm not good to critize movies... I only go to watch a movie because I know it will entertain me. And U Me Aur Hum totally rocked my world! I'm a huge fan of Kajol and I just think she made an outstanding performance in this movie, and Ajay made a really good debut by directing it. What else do I have to say? This film was really heart-touching, I cried and cried at the second part. I read so many review articles about UMAH, they really disappointed me! Certainly, they didn't notice (or didn't WANT to notice) that this is one of the best movies of this year so far...Even though, I still think that the Devgans will come out with movies better than this...
My Final Line... I just loved it! And I recommend it to those who don't have hearts made of rock... It will certainly entertain u and get ur 5 stars vote!

Excellent Movie -- Ajay and Kajol Rock. Everyone who says its not good, one day if this same situation happens to you then you will know how it feels. This movie has a lot of REALITY facts to it. EXcellent movie -- one of the best movies i've ever seen.
