Music Review: Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag

This is an interesting album from a Ram Gopal Varma film. His movies are never known for their music, but over the years have given some really catchy numbers as well as some very melodious songs. This time RGV assembles an album composed by 4 different music directors - Ganesh Hegde (Mehbooba), Prassanna Shekhar (Jee Le, Holi), Nitin Raikwar (Cha Raha) and Amar Mohile (Ruk Jaa, Hai Aag, Dum).

Not in the mood (the album doesn't really deserve that much attention) to really describe my feelings about every song but quickly Mehbooba is really done well and if we were to draw any analogy between the two movies using this song then RGV's version of Sholay might not be that bad after all. The next decent song in the album is a toss up between Ruk Ja and Cha Raha which is apparently a steamy song picturised on Ajay and Nisha, the former is more like " Koi Haseena Jab" from the original. None of these songs are that good, but they are atleast the more catchy ones in the album. You can basically skip the songs composed by Prassanna Shekhar which is Jee Le and that Holi song. They didn't do anything for me.

The other two songs by Amar Mohile - Hai Aag and Dum seem like the kind of songs that would play in the background, decent numbers but I don't see them going anywhere in pop charts.

The last song of the album is Mehbooba the remix, which is purely a bad remix. This kind of remix make you realize that Akbar Sami is actually a genius. Based on the strength of the first song and some half decent numbers, I'll give it a 2 star. Please don't bother buying the album, if you don't believe in downloading just listen to them here.
