Music Review: Abhijeet Sawant’s Junoon…
While the buzz is on for finding the third Indian Idol, Abhijeet Sawant, the first and the original Indian Idol is out with his second album called “Junoon” after a gap of two long years when he first released his debut album called “Aapka Abhijeet”.
“Junoon” is quite a transformation from what we have seen coming from Abhijeet in his previous album. This one has a total of ten tracks that are a mixture of pop, rock and sufi. The songs are very urban, youthful and exude a fresh appeal. In and all, the album is completely rocking with some really nice tracks that seem to now fit right with the kind of talent that Abhijeet initially promised in Indian Idol. This album can surely promise to take the career of Abhijeet to some awesome heights.
The album also contains a remix number by DJ Akbar Sami. Other than that most of the music is composed by debutant Amit Trivedi along with Mithoon, Biddu and Jatin Sharma.
The video of the title track has been recently out and it certainly is wonderful to see a talented singer like Abhijeet out there voicing out some passionate lyrics with the same smile that won a million hearts a couple of years back.
Take a look….
01. Abhijeet Sawant – Junoon and Junoon (The Dance Mix)
It’s a dazzling package with Amit Trivedi addressing to Nirvana. Junoon is a great example of indipop packaging with all the right ingredients in right proportions. But, all in all the best track of the album.
02. Abhijeet Sawant – Dhoondein and Dhoondein (The Club Mix)
Dhoondein with an enduring title refrains. Although, it becomes quite repetitive at times, but still not a bad one to go in for.
03. Abhijeet Sawant - Ek Shaqs
Mithoon’s “Ek shaqs” however, is disappointing - it being a repetition of The Train’s “Beete lamhein”. It does have all Mithoon’s usual, enjoyable trappings, however and even explores Abhijeet’s vocals in Atif mode.
04. Abhijeet Sawant - Mahi Mahi Mahiya
Jatin Sharma provides adequate relief with a simple, foot-tapping track in Mahi Mahi. However, is found to be a blatant rip off Egyptian boy band Wama’s ‘Ya ghali aliya’.
05. Abhijeet Sawant - Tere Bina
It’s yet another country-ish sing along song. Not the best one of the album but not bad even.
06. Abhijeet Sawant – Tanha
Veteran Biddu’s Tanha, despite all that mysterious sound seems trapped in veteran-mode, with his standard chorus. Even Abhijeet looks to attempt a mildly annoying tone here. It is a direct lift from Lebanese singer Ragheb Alameh’s ‘Nassini el donia’.
07. Abhijeet Sawant - Meri Aankhen
Yet another pop’ish track with Abhijeet trying nothing different. But still, it’s quite soothing to the ears.
08. Abhijeet Sawant - Tham Ja
Raju Singh’s "Tham Ja" is absolute filmi and was part of the Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin soundtrack. But it gives you a nice feeling and would love to listen again and again.

Re: Music Review: Abhijeet Sawant’s Junoon…
Your song (Junoon) is so great.. Especially when you sang it in Jakarta, Indonesia. Your performance was so great....
I just want to know, How can I get your album (Junoon), because I live in Indonesia ?
Thank You... and Good Luck...
Re: Music Review: Abhijeet Sawant’s Junoon…
Not a great album except for the Junoon track...no experimentation in his own voice...Don't try to be like Atif...If copying other singers was the way to go then Rahul Vaidya(sonu nigam wannabe) would be indian idol. Be creative and be yourself that's how u'll make a real mark...
