Music Review: Heyy Babyy

Sajid Khan's much awaited movie Heyy Babyy's music was released a few days ago and it has HIT written all over it. There is a certain standard that you come to expect of Shankar Ehsaan and Loy and they'll meet your expectations with this latest release. After watching the trailers and knowing a little about the story, I was expecting some nice dance and upbeat numbers and those are the high points of this album. There's one love song and one "lori" type number which sound fine after repeated listening, but nothing out of the world....

If you want to listen to the songs while you read the review, click here...

Heyy Babyy - Neeraj Sridhar, Raman, Pervez Quadir, Loy
This song sets the pace of the album. The title song has some sweet beats in the background which you can find yourself grooving to within seconds. This song has been remixed twice in the album. This will be the introduction song of all three actors where they'll be shown flirting with a number of beautiful ladies.

Dholna - Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal
This is your typical love song that you can find in any hindi movie. It's hummable and after playing it a few times you'll start liking it.

Mast Kalandar - Salim Shehzada, Rehan Khan, Shankar Mahadevan, Sajid Khan

This is my favorite song of the album. It is one of those songs that you'll like the moment it starts playing. With the qawwali background and some nice lyrics and voices, I think I'll be playing this song quite a few times in my car.

Heyy Babyy Featuring Girl Band - Girl Band [remix Dj Akbar Sami ]
This the first remix of the title song and it sticks to its name (Girl Band) with some spice girls type girls adding to the voices in the chorus. Akbar Sami is a great DJ I like most of his remixes and this one isn't bad either. He effectively uses house/techno music to enhance his remixes.

Jane Bhi De - Shankar Mahadevan, Loy
This song has a Caribbean flavor to it and is like a "roothna manana" number, sung very nicely by Shankar and Loy. The song could be entertaining depending on how it's shot because it's the type of song where visuals can actually enhance it's overall effect.

Meri Duniya Tu Hi Re - Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Shankar Mahadevan
This is the lori song of the movie. Just like most single guys I am not a big fan of loris yet, I'm sure all the married people with kids want to hear it carefully. They could try their singing in front of their new born and if they don't cry, then you know the song was good. (BTW if they cry at all songs maybe you should stop singing, sometimes its not the song but the singer)

Dholna (love Is In The Air Remix) - Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal [remix Dj Whosane]
Remix of the earlier love song. Nothing great to write about, pretty average stuff.

Heyy Babyy (the Big O Remix) - Neeraj Sridhar, Raman, Pervez Quadir, Loy [remix Dj Whosane]
DJ Whosane is no Akbar Sami, his remix sound like a fast forward version of the songs with beats thrown in the background. The song doesn't have to be fast to be groovy, sometimes slow songs need their own style of beats and they turn out great. This is very Jhankaar beats stuff.

Jaane Bhi De (hiphop Hiccup Remix) - Shankar Mahadevan, Loy [remix Dj Whosane]
This time DJ Whosane doesn't make the same mistake and the remix turns out to be good. Except for that guy's voice at the beginning of the song - very gay!!
