Music Review: Ek Chalis Ki Last Local

Ek Chalis Ki Last Local is a new movie starring Abhay Deol and Neha Dhupia who miss their last train from Vikhroli and have two and a half hours to kill before their next train. They end up in a bar and one thing leads to another and in these few hours of their life they go through a number of experiences and events - some good, some bad, but by the end of it each character's life is altered completely....
The music of the movie was released a few days ago and I've had a chance to listen to it a few times. From what I've heard of the story, the music seems to fit quite well and I think some of the songs will be great when played in the background. The other interesting thing is the album has a lot of new singers which is a good sign. The music, by Sandesh Shandilya and Amar Mohile, overall is sweet and if given a chance might grow on you.
Laree Choote - Xulfi
This is clearly the best song of the lot and will be on your lips before you know it. The song starts with Abhay Deol voicing a line and setting the mood. Xulfi's voice suits this song well. His voice will remind of you the number of Pakistani rock bands we've heard in the past and it's a good thing.
Ekka Chuaka - Alisha Chinai & Sandesh Shandilya
This is a faster, foot tapping song with some really mindless lyrics. The entire song is pretty mediocre, I might have to consider taking a pee break when this song comes on screen. I don't know why this song is twice in the album
Bheegi Bheegi Si - Ankur
Another new singer in a very melodious song with interestingly upbeat tempo. After a few hearings you'll find yourself humming along. Certainly fits with the mood of the album.
Akh (film Version) - Rashmi
This is a folk song and the album has two different versions which sound very similar!! This one sung by Rashmi, reminds you of Ila Arun's songs from 90s, slightly naughty and very much Indian in its sound.
Panga - Sonu Nigam & Alisha Chinai
This is Alisha's second song of the album and much better than the Ekka Chauka song. Its a fun dhingchak song and the situation could be that the hero uncle and heroine aunty must've gotten drunk in the bar and having a ball with other local well trained dancers which can so often be found in Indian movies.
Akh (dance Version) - Anoushka
This is the second version of the Akh song and sung by a different singer Anoushka (is she the same girl from Channel V's Viva?). Like I said before, it's very hard to differentiate between the two songs except for maybe the use of a few different instruments here and there. Good song nonetheless.
Ekka Chuaka (title Version) - Alisha Chinai & Sandesh Sandilya
What happens when you remix a bad song? You get a bad remix song. This sounds more like the soundtrack of old Dharmendra movie - Aankhen and is totally unoriginal.
Laree Choote (remix) - Xulfi
As good as the original song is, the remix completely fails to make an impact. There are some remixes that really add a different style to a song, this one is just faster beats added to it, nothing novel.
As I said earlier, the album is good overall and will have some songs like Laree Choote, Akh, Bheegi Bheegi Si that have a chance to reach the top 10 charts and will help in the promotion of the movie. Hear it and let us know what you thought.

First song laree chhooti is too good. looks like it's sung by Abhay Deol himself.
