English Classics : Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Undoubtedly one of the funniest movie ever made in the history of cinema. Starting from opening credits till 'The End', this movie will not allow you to sit comfortably in your chair. I had stomach ache while watching this movie from laughing so hard. So I advice you to watch it in very comfortable position. Monty Python and the Holy Grail claims it's undisputed comedy throne through insanely ridiculous situations and characters that will very likely never be duplicated. The way comedy movies are made today, I seriously doubt anything will come closer to this legend.

The movie was wade by  Monty Python,a group of 6 guys from UK: Graham Chapman (1941-1989), John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin. The budget for this movie was very less(£229,000) and even that amount was given by rock bands like Jethro Tull, Genesis, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin.

The movie was spoof on story of king Arthur who started the search for holy Grail, when God came out of clouds(!!) and ordered them to find it. The story revolves around King Arthur and his brave knights, who fell one by one in deadly traps of 'killer rabbit', 'Q & A bridge' etc. during their quest. The story might be looking like a mythological story of brave knights, but Monty Python look at it from very different perspective . Serious performances in deadly stupid conditions make this movie a gem for comedy lovers. The satire and low budget were some of the reason why some artists were doing multiple roles in the movie. Horses were substituted by coconuts(??), Armours were painted cardboards and thermocol and the all the shooting places were around one castle only!!!

When you will watch this movie, you might think that this is stupidest moment you have ever seen, but very soon you will witness another act of lame stupidity, and you will be amazed by their creativity and daring to make such a thing. The dialogs are extremely witty and acting is superb, but I suggest to watch this movie with subtitles to avoid any chance of missing those satires. I am not telling you about those scenes, as I don't want to be a spoiler for this great movie.

So go and rent a DVD, and watch the extreme stupidity from starting till end, and I can assure you that in the end you will feel that you have got more than expected value for your money. 10/10 for this amazing work of creativity in the field of satire.
