Ram Gopal Verma Ko Gussa Kyon Aata Hai?

Ever since I've known him, Ramu has always been angry. He's angry in his movies, in his interviews and even in his pictures. He's angry with Aamir Khan, SRK, Karan Johar, movies with long names and anyone who doesn't want to work with him. In fact he should be given the most angry Bollywood celebrity Award. Don't get me wrong, I like the guy and his movies, I just want him to be happy you know. Therefore it makes me wonder what could go so wrong to make a person perpetually pissed off. I decided to do a little thinking on it and tried to put myself in his shoes and then out of it and came up with a few theories....

Theory 1 - He's dumb and everyone else is smart

Now this could be really frustrating, because you are not smart enough to understand or participate in what is going on in the world and hence you are always mad. But this cannot be true, because there is one person who is dumber than Ramu and that is Karan Johar. Someone who calls a movie like KANK, "BOLD", has got to be retarded. But I digress, we are not talking about KJ, that was a different post. So I discard this theory.

Theory 2 - He's smart and everyone else is dumb

This can also be frustrating, because you keep making movies that you think are the best and people don't give you enough credit. You feel like a renaissance man and public treats you as an average Joe director because they are too dumb to understand your prowess. But this is not true either, because Ramu is not even half as good as someone like Yash Chopra. Now before you say "C'mon", just think about it. Chopra made Ittefaq, Silsila, Waqt, Kala Patthar, Trishul, Deewar, Lamhe and Chandni before he made Dil To Pagal Hai. So he has proved he's a great director in multiple genres. The only good movies Ramu has made are in the Tapori genre, so IMHO, he's got a long way to go, before he can beat Yash Ji. So I discard this theory as well.

Miscellaneous Theories

Now you realize how complicated this question really is? I've thought of some other stuff as well, like, maybe he was tormented as a kid and that's why he is always pissed off. Like he could be one of those persons, no matter what you do, they'll be angry with you. Or maybe he's just plain arrogant and if someone doesn't give him enough respect he gets mad (for eg. Manoj Bajpai and D's case). Another reason could be that we have not given his assistants, the same amount of love we give him. I mean his assitants did make some really "good movies" like Darwaza Band Rakho, James, Bhoot, Vastu Shastra. Whatever the reason, I did spend a lot of time thinking about it. Basically gives you the idea that I have nothing better to do in my life:-)

But now that I have spent so much time thinking about it without coming to an intelligent conclusion, I was wondering if you guys can share your thoughts and help me understand Ramu's mental state better.

P.S. If Ramu gets whiff of this article, he'll sure be mad at me, so please keep it confidential.

Ram Gopal Verma Ko Gussa

Ram Gopal Verma Ko Gussa Kyon Aata Hai?

Ram Gopal Verma Ko Gussa Kyon Aata Hai? posted at IndianPad.com

I am not a very big fan of

I am not a very big fan of RGV but i thought Satya, Company and Sarkar make the best trilogy in Hindi Cinema - well, at least on gangster movies. So, RGV does excel in genre other than taporigiri (Rangeela) too. Besides, he made some horror movies (Bhoot, Raat) which did well at Box Office (no matter how bad they were). In fact, he proved with his first movie, Shiva, that he is not run of the mill movie maker.

Not sure about others, but i liked Daud as well - that makes up for comedy genre. And for love story kinda stuff - watch out for Nishabd, although in a different mould. Mast would fall in that category too and it was ok. Kaun would fit into suspense genre quite well. I am not sure where to put Jungle, but that was another above avg movie from RGV.

Still, I am not a very big fan of RGV. I think he's committing a blunder by remaking Sholay. That's his fascination with one character - Gabbar Singh, and one actor - Amitabh Bachchan. Let's see how it turns out to be.

RGV ko gussa kyun aata hai??? I think he's marginally better in an industry full of mediocres. He's self-obsessed, no doubt, but he should watch the great works done outside Bollywood, mellow down and concentrate on movies rather than hype.

RGV can be compared to

RGV can be compared to Mahesh Bhatt who when they concentrate can come out with great movies. But if they spread themselves too thin, they make shitty movies....

also in terms of attitude, both feel that they are the best in Bollywood.....I disagree with the comment above by RGV ke sholay that he's marginally better than an industry full of mediocres....he might be, but there are others that are doing good work too....eg. Vinod Chopra, Mani Ratnam, Farhan Akhtar and a few more....so there's no need for an attitude.....Indian Directors need to mature and learn that being humble is the biggest quality of winners.....

I did not mean that if one

I did not mean that if one is marginally better, he should throw attitude. Just look at Amitabh Bachchan. I think he's the greatest, yet so humble. But RGV is like that. That's what I meant. And that's his negative point.

But i would insist he is marginally better than most. The ones aslam jotted above are only a handfull. They too are better than most. But that's exactly what the problem with Bollywood is - only a few good men.

Know what, you guys should come with list of directors who have made at least 5 good movies and then we would all know what exactly i mean here.

Mahesh Bhatt has certainly made some great movies - Arth, Saaransh, Naam, Kabzaa, Daddy, Aashiqui, Sadak, Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin, Sir, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Gumrah, Zakhm. He makes shitty movies the moment he takes things for granted. But m sure those bad movies would have been directed by his assistants with him over the phone.

point taken RGVKS.....I

point taken RGVKS.....I agree there are only a handful who make good movies and I am sure it'll be tough to put together a double digit list of directors who have made 5 or more good movies

Impressive Mahesh Bhatt list btw....would be tough to beat that.....

Mahesh Bhat's major USP is

Mahesh Bhat's major USP is the risk that he takes with musicians. Most of his movies are a Ctr C Ctrl V from hollywood, but he makes sure that the music is fresh.

Right from Aashiqui, DHKMN to Murder.., he has introduced new actors as well as musicians (Nadeem Sharavan to Jal..and probably he will take Reth (Pak band) as well..)
Maybe this helps him in controlling the budget, but who cares if you have are a good storyteller.

I enjoyed reading this

I enjoyed reading this article ramu ko gussa kyon aatha hai guys let me tell you I am not a big film freak but I can tell he is not a good director coz film making is not a single dimension act but if you notice he knows only 4 stories shiva-drohi-gaayam-satya-company-D-sarkar-they are godfather kind of stories
raaat-kaun-bhoot-vastusastra-deyyam-exorsist kind
kshana kshanam-daud-Road-anaganaga oka roju---go(forthcoming)are road movies arelike romancing the stone kind of stuff
rangeela-main mahuridixit bannachahtaihoo---sivaranjani-sitamalakshmi kind stuff (the only so called diff story he attempted)

so guys by this time u might have understood what will be his upcoming movies wud be like wait for GO -sabari-sarkar 2 they are same as above mentioned stuff again and again
he is wasting the rawstock

people dont respect him becoz there is no respect for his work he himself quoted that he dont respect his own work

the only few directors who can be remembered for their wonderful contribution are

shekar kapur,maniratnam,yashchopra,karan johar,prakash jha,
sooraj bharajatya,aditya chopra,madhur bhandarkar etc

Re: Ram Gopal Verma Ko Gussa Kyon Aata Hai?

hahaha....i agree the only director tht can be comparecd to rgv in tht list is maniratnam...rgv br8 hollywood style of film making with his diectorial abilities...karan johar?hahaha....there are no other indian directors who are technically as brilliant as rgv or maniratnam..i agree tht he is obsessed with only few kind of stories

Re: Ram Gopal Verma Ko Gussa Kyon Aata Hai?

he should be on fire.
then only the out put will be very nice.

Re: Ram Gopal Verma Ko Gussa Kyon Aata Hai?

I work with Ramu. N I pin my career to him. He inspires anyone to work towards only making urself better than the previous minute that just passed. I see him day in n day out n he really lives, sleeps, drinks, n dreams cinema. He till date does not know what is the difference between a Cheque and a Bank Draft! belive me this ignorance is not coz he is dumb. It is so coz he thinks knowing the difference and implementing it will take the precious time off making his moive....n its true....this can be only be proved by the legal hassel he has got into with the ever fraudsters T-Series aka Bhushan Kumar who have literally cheated him in broad day light n are swearing to be clear in all media. Ramu is going to rise back and u all would see him come back with SARKAR RAJ. Even 100 Bhushan Kumars cant stop this man in his passion to make movies....I hope to see u guys tell me whats his worst and best qualities in his movies and i assure to pass it on to him personally. Thanks.
