Happy Birthday Asha Bhosle! I know I'm a day late (2 days if you live in India), but then in my defense she's not my facebook friend. I only found out when someone told me it was her birthday and sent me a link to Imeem with the song brimful of Asha sung by cornershop.

Now if you know anything about Bollywood, you must be familiar with her genius and its not because millions of us included her songs in their mix tapes while they were cheesily proposing their love, but the fact that she often went where the most celebrated singer in India, Lata never did. She could go from sounding like a 16 year old girl in Tu Rutha To Main to a sexy seductress in "Yeh Mera Dil" to an angry lover in "Kambakth Ishq". She has so many awesome songs that I feel most of us who limited ourselves to her famous numbers barely scractched the surface of her genius. She's still here and wowing us everyday and I hope she continues to do that for many years.
