Indian Idol Season 4

"Haariye na himmat, bisaariye na ram...tu kyun soche bande, sabki soche ram...". Bhanu Pratap Singh was nearly eliminated in the theater round of Indian Idol Season 4. Annu Malik had, in fact, asked Bhanu to look for an alternate career after he failed for the fourth time to enter the piano round. But this is when Javed Akhtar asked Bhanu not to lose faith in himself, work harder and try again in the next season, citing him the example of a king getting motivated by watching an ant climbing the wall successfully in the 7th attempt. The judges then decided to give Bhanu a second chance. He sang "Mera to jo bhi kadam hai wo teri raah mein hai..." and the rest is, or maybe going to be, history.

And today I watched Bhanu singing "Kawa kawa...aaj mera jee karda..." and I have little doubt in saying that this guy will make it to the Top 5, at the least. He has determination written all over him. The kind of performance, energy and melody he brings in his singing is something to watch out for. He's surely a threat even to more natural singers in this season, like Rajdeep, Mohit and a bunch of girls.

Folks, here is a list of all the contestants who made it to the Top 30 this time. Some of them have already been eliminated but let's keep a track of the events here and feel free to write who's your favorite. As for me, the favorites to make Top 10 are Rajdeep Chatterjee, Mohit Lalwani, Torsha Sarkar, Ananya Mishra, Bhanu Pratap, Bhavya Pandit, Sandeep Ubale, Tullika Ganguly, Kapil Thapa, and Priyanka Negi (in the order of images above, L to R). Let's see how it goes and who becomes "Bharat Ki Shaan"!

Now my two cents on the judges. Annu Malik as usual is entertainment personified but I am yet to see his conflicting tete-a-tete with Jaaved saab, who is so inspiring. As for Kailash Kher, he is terrific when he sings, can't say the same about his comments though. And needless to say, I can't get enough of Sonali Bendre in 1 hour show.

It all started with Amit Paul's pehla nasha last year and I am still liking this show. What about you guys n gals?

Re: Indian Idol Season 4

My favorite is Rajdeep. He is so effortless. I was also touched by Bhanu. He'll get lot of popular votes. But there were 2 brothers in the audition round who sang so well and also made it to Mumbai but I did not see them in the theater round. What happened to them? Any idea anyone?

Re: Indian Idol Season 4

Mohit is my fav. i also like ananya and bhavya. may be this time indian idol will be a girl.

Re: Indian Idol Season 4

I'm backing Roshan.

Re: Indian Idol Season 4

Girls are so much better in Indian Idol 4. I like Ananya and Priyanka Negi. Thank God that irritating girl with teddy bear is out!!!

Re: Indian Idol Season 4

I wish and pray that Bhanu comes to the top. His story can be a source of inspiration for whom things have not come easy in life.

Re: Indian Idol Season 4

Strange at it may seem, but unfortunately Bhavya and Sandeep have been voted out. Sandeep had received a standing ovation from Javed Akhtar in the previous piano round but somehow he did not live up to the expectations in the last but one piano round and he sounded a bit over confident. The result was too harsh though. He did not deserve to be out so early. As for Bhavya, she was one of the best but not sure why junta did not vote for her. Annu Malik has promised her that he'll be give her some work. Some consolation for the bubbly girl.

So, my guess of Top 10 will not be perfect but still 8 of them have made it to the Top 12 for now. Let's see who get voted out next Fri. I liked Sourabhee a lot this time. I think I should have had selected her in my list of favorites earlier. My bad. She was terrific in "Hawa Hawaii..." song. Rajdeep, as usual, was brilliant with "Main Hoon Na" title track. He is so effortless. Bhanu was once again down to earth and am sure would have touched million hearts with "In dino...dil mera...". Tulli-ka's "Tulli ho gayee..." was another awesome performance of the evening. And Kapil tried to be non-nasal this time with "Pukarta chala hoon main..." and he sounded so much better. Hussain's comment on Himesh Reshammiya was a bit nasty one when he said except for rickshaw wallahs the whole film industry is fed up of his nasal singing. C'mon give that guy a break. He has been a phenomenon, and that's not for nothing although I, too, think he should now stick to music direction only.

The other 3 in the Top 12 are Kuldip Singh, Remo Ghosh and Nirali Fozdar. Who are your favorites?

Re: Indian Idol Season 4

I agree with you Vijay. As if rickshawallahs are not human beings. they have their own likings. they can say same things about people who like gay srk.
