Sequels that I'd Like to See - Part 1

With so much talk around sequels and remakes in Bollywood it almost feels like that yeh log saare badal daalenge. But my thought is that since the wave has just taken over then why stop with just a few. I let my mind wander this weekend and thought about what sequels I'd like to see being made in Bollywood. Remember sequels, not remakes.

For some of these movies the original cast would be too old to play a part, but we can be creative and find someone from the current crop to replace it. I've made suggestions on some storylines, but please feel free to suggest your own....

So here goes my list.....the first five....

1. Sholay 2 - This sequel may or may not have anything to do with the original story, but I want someone to pick the baton of the curry western and take it further. Feroze Khan tried to make a few but wasn't that successful, I'd like to see some young crop make a movie about dacoits and wanted criminals who save the day. If they need some ideas, how about having Gabbar's Najayaz aulad come back and torment the villagers again and then 2 new shahari babu coming to the rescue of innocent villagers. It's not so much about the story as most westerns were more about the style anyways, so a decent story will work if it brings back the memories of the classic Sholay.

2. Shalimar 2 - When I saw this movie long time back I thought it was pretty good and I must have heard that hum bewafa song at least a million times. I would love to see an elaborate heist movie being made in India. It was like Ocean's 11 only thing they were all working alone. I'm sure if someone just made a good heist movie with not a lot BS style thrown in like Cash and fool n final the movie will be a huge hit.

3. Mr. India 2 - Don't tell me you've had enough of the invisible man. This movie was so great even back in the 80s that with today's technology it could be done even better and definitely deserves a sequel. How about choosing one of the guys from Anil Kapoor's house and giving him the secret of disappearing and he ultimately saves the world. Or something like that?

4. Agnipath 2 - Madhavi tries to guide Amitabh's son to the path of righteousness, but his father's past comes to haunt him and he has to ultimately take back what was his. Cheesy but nice storyline. To get back what is lost, he'll need the help of one and only Krishnan Iyer MA. The other thing to do would to make Krishnan Iyer the new don of Mumbai and he grows powerful and the power corrupts him and the young Vijay Deenanath Chavan goes up against this powerful don and has to use everything that he has learned from his uncle to fight him.

5. Company 2 - We had a prequel to Company, but how about a sequel? Viveik Oberoi gets out of the jail and is offered a job by Mohanlal to work with the cops to nail down the Mumbai mafia. This becomes and out and out cop mafia movie. Second storyline could be that Viveik Oberoi seeks to settle down in a quite place and starts a restaurant or a shop, gets married and tries to be anonymous. But he's being chased by what was left over of Malik's group and they attack his family and he has no choice but to come after them. Kinda like Hum and History of Violence, but could be a nice sequel and a great role for Viveik.
