A journey from black & white to color…. !!!

Mughal-E-Azam has definitely set a trend after being released recently in color. Now we have a host of Hindi classics gearing up one by one to be reborn in color prints. Two such masterpieces are going to “Naya Daur” and “Hum Dono”.
“Naya Daur”: The beautiful movie starring Dilip Kumar opposite Vaijanti Mala; it is the story of love, friendship, animosity and the theme of man vs. machine. The movie gave some chartbusting numbers such as “Ude jab jab zulfein teri” and “Ana hai to aa” and indeed will be a something special to watch out for.
“Hum Dono”: Starring the megastar of yesteryears Dev Anand opposite two beautiful heroines, Sadhna and Nanda, this movie was a compelling narrative as Dev Anand plays a double role of Major Verma and Captain Anand and hence finds himself torn between two sides, owing to the tender circumstances he has been placed in. Once again the movie is full of eternally melodic jingles such as “Mai zindagi ka saath nibhata chala gaya ” and “Kabhi khud pe, kabhi halaat pe rona aaya”.

Certainly, the real charm of some marvelous movies as these remains in the softness and the sobriety that their original black and white frames exude with all veracity, yet the newly colored prints shall introduce them to today’s younger audiences with freshness and originality. Even the tunes of these films in the multiplexes shall provide a soothing breather from the door banging and table beating music, which has become an order of the day.
Eagerly waiting!!!!
