Spielberg and Peter Jackson to bring Tintin to silver screen

Now that's the comic book movie I wanna see. Living in India I remember those Tintin comics were worth a lot and I really had to go through a milestone based childhood to collect almost all of Tintin's comics (you know like if you get 90% in math or if you are in top 5 of your class you'll get a comic, how manipulative of my parents:-) ). Anyways the GREAT news is that Dreamworks has picked up the responsibility to bring to us three back to back movies of Tintin and the first two will each be directed by none other than Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg!!

According to MovieWeb:

Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson are teaming to direct and produce three back-to-back features based on Georges Remi's beloved Belgian comic-strip hero Tintin for DreamWorks, according to Variety. The films will be produced in full digital 3-D using performance capture technology.

The two filmmakers will each direct at least one of the movies; the studio wouldn't say which director would helm the third.
Tintin has long been a passion project for Spielberg, who has been trying to get film rights to the comedic and adventurous book series for more than 25 years, a goal realized over the past year. With the rights in place, Spielberg, Jackson and DreamWorks began quietly developing the project.

The article goes on to say that both Jackson and Spielberg have selected 3 stories from Remi's "The Adventures of Tintin Series" which comprised of about 23 comic books written from 1929-1976. There was this great visual appeal about the comic book and I think with the genius of the two directors we are in for a visual treat.

However this is not the first time a movie will be made on Tintin. The series that attracts 2 million new fans a year and has sold 200 million comic books has had quite a few animated and live action flicks to its credit. But none of them would compare to what Spielberg and Jackson can bring to this franchise. Now all we have to do is wait!!
