DEVEN BHOJANI : Creating magic on and off-screen..!!!

The Indian television is going through a lean patch these days. Most of the actors frequently go in and out of the serials if they don’t fit the script. Only a few of them have the qualities to prove their talent through sheer hard work, honesty & by lending their artistry to even ordinary serials to create path-breaking scenes & dramatic sequences. One such supremely talented actor is Deven Bhojani.

He belongs to the unique category of those actors who have carved a niche in direction also. Directors are many but actor-cum-directors are very few. We know him better as “Gattu” of “Baa Bahu Aur Baby” on Star Plus. Deven has been doing theatre from 1984. He started it as a hobby and along with theatre he used to work as a Salesman in a Soda maker Company. He also tried his hand at being a Real Estate Agent. But sooner he realized that he needs to concentrate on his acting. He started his television journey way back in 1986 with an episode of Malgudi Days entitled Nitya.

 After that he did various films and loads of television shows. He was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Filmfare Awards for “Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar”. He even assisted Mansoor Khan in that film.

 Deven has done some significant roles in various other serials such as the loveable household servant, “Karima” in “Dekh Bhai Dekh”, as “Raju Rajkotwala” in “Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka”, as “Petha” in “Tara”, as “Mr. Patel” in “Office Office” who saw two things behind every thing, “Hum Sab Ek Hain”, etc.

 After his directorial debut with “Main Office Tere Aangan Ki”, he proved his enormous talent in “Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai” (in which he also plays Satish Shah and Ratna Pathak’s crazy techno-savvy son-in-law, Dushyant) & “Instant Khichdi”. Apart from playing “Gattu”, he also dons the cap of Creative Director for “Baa Bahu Aur Baby” on Star Plus.

 Apart from his various other roles, playing the role of “Gattu”, the mentally under-developed son of Baa, was the biggest challenge for Deven. He had to go to a home for mentally challenged & the handicapped children. He observed their body language, mannerisms & their approach towards life. It helped him to a great extent in furnishing the proficiency required to play that role.

 Deven is also getting offers from various top producers in the country such as Balaji & K Sera Sera Productions but right now his plate his full and is devoting his time to his two serials.

 Well, he is certainly an ALL-ROUNDER…!!!
