Preview: Shootout At Lokhandwala

From director Apoorva Lakhia comes Shootout At Lokhandwala, a shocking, hypnotic look at a real-life disaster. Based on the shootout in Lokhhandwala 1992, when commissioner of police, Aftaab Ahmed Khan, shot Dawood Ibrahim's aides including Maya Dolas and Dilip Bua. This caused massive controversy after it was rumored that Dawood asked for the shootings to take revenge on his aides who had fallen out with him.

The movie has some of the biggest stars in the industry. Meanwhile, Lakhia is all pepped up about his project. "Believe me, it wasn’t tough! Abhishek and I have a pact that he'd star in every film I make and the pact has now extended to Mr. Bachchan too. Sanju is a friend plus the producer and Suniel too is a buddy. But, I admit, I did have problems casting guys on the 'other side of the law', namely Vivek Oberoi and Tusshar. Tusshar hadn’t portrayed a negative character and was apprehensive initially. Vivek too didn’t want to portray something he had attempted earlier, in COMPANY", Lakhia reveals. Suresh Nair has written the script along with inputs from Lakhia and Gupta.

Shootout At Lokhandwala is the story of a seasoned cop, Khan (Sanjay Dutt) who chased Khalistani extremists, handpicked cops like Inspector Kaviraj Patil and Constable Javed Shaikh, and dared to engage trigger-happy gangsters in a residential locality of Mumbai. Khan's fight went beyond the encounter as he faced inquisition from his own department and legal charges of human rights violations. Shootout At Lokhandwala is the story of an upcoming underworld gangster, Maya (Vivek Oberoi), and his highly skilled partner, Dilip (Tusshar). The two made extortion the buzzword in the early 90s and dared to disobey the big bhai of the underworld, drawing the attention of Khan and his newly formed ATS squad. Both Khan and Maya were men obsessed, so devoted to their professions that their personal lives were a disaster.

Sanjay Dutt plays the role of Additional Commissioner Aftab Ahmad Khan. Vivek Oberoi will play Maya Dolas, a mafia henchman who is killed in a police encounter. Tusshar Kapoor's all set to play a negative role of Bua, who was also killed in the shootout. Abhishek Bachchan will play the role of Abhishek Mahatre, another police inspector who played a key role in the shootout. Dia Mirza (Mita Matu), an earthy, refined and aggressive reporter while Aarti Chhabria plays Tarannum - a bar dancer. Tarannum's case has been in news for quite sometime and is still fresh in people's minds. Arbaaz Khan will be essaying the role of cop in the film. Every body has a different look as the film is inspired from a real life incident.

This is the fifth film to feature father and son Amitabh and Abhishek in a film together although in this film they do not have any scenes together.

The film's score and soundtrack will be composed by leading Pakistani band, Strings, and top Indian bands, Indian Ocean and Euphoria, popular songwriter Biddu Appaiah and popular playback singers, Shibani Kashyap and Mika Mehndi. Cinematography for the movie is handled by Gururaj S. Jois, while the editing for the film is handled by Bunty Nagi.

and i Arbaaz is in too..it's been long for him too...maybe it's his time to rock too..
I got impressed by the name and the tagline next to it ...

Re: Preview: Shootout At Lokhandwala

I agree. The movie isn't very good. I will be writing a review on this movie by the end of the day.

Re: Preview: Shootout At Lokhandwala

the gangster role didn't suited vivek and tusshar.. they were too gay and amateuristic.. they could had used some other top actor..

Too much sepia can spoil the soup

I haven't seen the movie, but when someone uses a lot of sepia tones, it is usually to hide a lack of creativity.
So I generally stay away from sepia-laden stuff.
If U recall any great hit cult movie, U'd hardly find any sepia...while in major flops (like 1942 a Love story etc) Ur senses are hit by an overload of Sepia.
It is jinxed , I tell U...avoid it !

Re: Preview: Shootout At Lokhandwala

Re: Preview: Shootout At Lokhandwala

In this movie all things are very well discussed. If Maya would have lived for more years definitely he would have become the top underworld leader. I liked the Vivek action and his maturity; remember Maya was only 25 years when he died. He was so courageous, never invited fear, just lived like a king. He did not even requested when he was about to die. Even that time he did think about his friends to save them. They all knew that was their last day but did not give up. They fought and lost.
Every men should question themselves, did we ever live like a men? We are zero in outside world, we are the really scary people, we just wanted our life to be safer and do not worry about others. At home, by closing all the windows and doors we shout at wife and children, we dump all our frustration over them, if not we involve their parents and grandparents in our topic. We always act outsides, we are not real, we just lick the a** of our boss for promotion or at least for one day leave, we wear a mask in the office to act as a polite guy, in the office or in the office party we are the heroes, we play jokes, we discuss business. If we come out from the office, if there is some jhagada on the street, we are the first persons to run away. Our life, our society, our values are only limited to office and our home apartments; we are really a zero in public. If someone scares us we Salam them and move away. After going back to 1000 feet we tell to some others (very slowly ... whispers) saying he is not good and he is linked to some bhai X. If someone kicks the so called officer wife's a**, he wish this matter not to be aired and wants this to go un noticed, but in the office if any new comer makes a simple mistake he just sends 100 emails to all to avoid such kind of mistakes, we are not real humans, we did not have any guts, how many people are physically strong to protect their wives? How many people ever run a mile a day for fitness? How many of them know how to use a weapon? But they all know how to tie, how to in shirt, how to make power point presentation, they all are useless dum a**es, that’s why they did not like the people who has courage, who are real. Live like Men at least for one day, protect yourself and protect your family.

Re: Preview: Shootout At Lokhandwala

You are a real stupid asshole, comparing these people with gangsters, these characters had no guts, they were protected by police and politician, and when they are done ,they are shot dead, even if they surrender. You dont know what happnes when the cop slams the bullet into your ass. If you are so brave go and fight the jehadis in kashmir or join the army. Dont fuck people who work hard and try to do something worthwhile.. Dont glamorise gutless violence. You will know when you get into real battle one day. God knows your a gutless coward.

Re: Preview: Shootout At Lokhandwala

movie was awesome!!!! the people who say that this movie was a crap are all gay. they don't know anything about the underworld. Maya Dolas was awesome but Dilip buwa (tussar kapoor) was gay. The dailogues were awesome and Abhishek Bachhan should go and leave the industry. He is not good at anything.
last but not the least
APUN KA DHANDHA DARR PE CHALTA HAI!!
and
BHAI HOON MAIN BHAI TU FIKAR NA KARR, USKI AISI USKI TAISI JO DEKHE IDHAR.
SAB DARTE APNE NAAM SE TU JAAYE JITHAR
