BHAGYASHREE: What was she thinking?

Bhagyashree…. The name sure sounds familiar but ask anyone and they would come up with… “Yeah, that girl from Maine Pyaar Kiya”…. The pretty damsel who topped the heights of success with her debut production in the year 1989 and then slopped down the hill with an equal pace….

The movie “Maine Pyaar Kiya”, also referred to as “Sholay 2” sometimes, was not only a career defining role for just Bhagyashree but even for Salman Khan and for the whole unit as such but where others continued to make the right choices to secure for themselves safe positions in the ever competitive world of Bollywood, Bhagyashree failed to do just the same on account of her own obstinacy.

With the triumph of her debut movie looming large in her head, the petite actress refused to work with any other actor except for her own husband, Himalaya Dassani. The producers were largely unhappy because of this pronouncement of hers, but still decided to come together in order to give a try, as by then Bhagyashree had a colossal fan following. However the movies that followed this like “Qaid Mein Hai Bulbul” and “Payal” bombed miserably at the box office. With no more exciting or reasonable offers in her kitty anymore, Bhagyashree gradually vanished from the entire panorama of the Indian film face.

However she was recently back on the silver screen after a long gap with a movie called “Janani” where she was paired opposite Aman Verma and also appeared for a cameo in “Humko Deewana Kar Gaye” starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif. Rumors are also doing in the air that she is all set to star in a movie opposite Akshay Khanna.

Well… Had Mrs. Dassani been a little more patient with her decisive powers, she probably would have worked wonders for her film career. She decided to settle for marital bliss and we are not complaining but then, maybe she should have given a second thought to her whole resolution of making a career and being a part of this cut throat world before embarking upon the journey itself…. LESSON TAKEN!!!
