Arghh, unfortunately for me. I have been studying Sparta as part of my core topic in my final highschool year for several months, every flaw in this battle, from the fact they all have head hair to the battle formation they use, to the uniforms of the Persians. I will be picking them all out and ruining the movie for my self

This is utter propaganda against IRAN. The propaganda is clever, it is clear, and it is so obvious that most people will simply not see it.

The sole purpose of this movie is to mentally prepare Americans for war against Iran. The good news is that at least there is some time to stop it.

Who cares about accuracy? How about they just fly through the air then and kill all the Persians with laser beams shooting out of their eyes?

The reason this story is entertaining is because it actually happend! The REAL story should be told. I don't want another Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, entertainment-for-a-nine-year-old. They didn't have ogres and crap in Sparta. What is this BS?

I weep for our future when real heroes lived and died and we'd rather watch a video game then learn about what really happend.

This is based on Frank Miller's version of the battle. It's obviously not historically accurate cause its been done on purpose. If you want the real one watch the older flick called sparta or something. This has been made to look cool..which it hopefully is.

Well its not supposed to be accurate to history, but its based on the graphic novel that frank miller did. No the propaganda idea is really stupid about getting us ready for war with Iran. Its based on the novel not getting us ready for anything.

Anonmoose! Tis great to hear from the kin! The gout has been slowing down my aching bones so I have missed many celebrations and sacrifices. To make life easier, I have recruited several personal stone-slingers from Thrace to help me battle as of late.

Paddleboat races sound superb, but I have a food allegy. I can't eat Norsemens and Saxons. I just vomit back up an arm or an elbow. I prefer Chinese. Perhaps if there is someone from the East, like a Mongol, I am game.

this movie (while fictional) IS based of historical fact (the battle of thermopolie)

while it probably is stretching that only 300 spartans fought (them and some 10,000 other greeks)

Oh my god, it's obviously not about the possible war with Iran, as said before it's based on a novel written years ago n also, the production has probably taken a good while too. Looks great, i've studied Sparta too and I'll be a little annoyed about the lack of accuracy but I suppose it's only a movie and I'm sure there is still a lot of truth in it.

its just a movie based on a historical event, then its made a bit more... artistic... but i say rather this than another "Troy" . and NO this movie is not made to prepare for a war in Iran... where did u get that idea from???

And there really were only 300 Spartans, along with 4900 other greeks, all of which but 700 were dismissed from the battle about a day in, so it was really 1 000 vs 1 700 000.

And it's not an ogre, he's just deformed in a very exagerated way...

Very Artistic way to present the most martial people of the Ancients.
Never mind the inaacuracy, it's a movie, suppose to entertain, so stop the paranoia.

I am studying Visual Effects, I understand how much it can help a movie to be sold, and I undersatnd that right now, America and west have the power and money to make movies, Iran's government is against Ancient Iran, they had tried to destroy all the ancient Iran cultures and customs, so people love Islam more, even they tried to destroy all other cultures too, like saying that Hollocust was a lie, I agree that right now, bunch of animals rule Iran, but please read the true history, in Iran 3 thousand years ago, a man was born, he was clled Zarathustra, he was the first prophit, who said if you follow GOOD WORD, GOOD THOUGHT and GOOD DEED, peace will be with you, he said that everybody is free to choose his way of life or way, he said no sacrifice in the name of God, and he said truth is the best policy, his followers were called Zoroastrians, Cyrus the great was Zoroastrian and he wrote the first human right in the world history, and Khashayar the animal king in 300 movie was an other of them, they never took slaves and they paid people to build their palaces, they even double paid women, because they were mothers also, they had women leaders, and whenever they conqure a country they respected their peoples' religion and believes, it was 600 BC. Finally Arabs attacked Iran, and destroyed everything and killed whoever that didn't convrt to Islam, now there are a few Zoroastrian around the world and Iran's religion changed to Islam, Zoroastrians have no more power, as once they had, and Iran Governemnt is trying to change the history himslef too, but Iran's History and religion is all that Iranian have and are proud of, this movie is taking all the proud from Iranian and show that they have been animals always, that is not true.

Great comments Anonymous.....I think Indians are the few fortunate people that have had a chance to interact with Zorastrians and know for a fact that it is a very peace loving and progressive community. A number of them migrated long time ago to India and still live in Bombay.....a number of big Indian industrialists and folks in entertainment are Parsis ( that's what they are called in India)......I wonder if they had stayed on in Iran the middle east would have been a whole different place now....

yes MUCH respect to the last to posts. As the son of a parsi ( a desecendent of a zoroastrian) I was blown away by this movie. Little do the world know, this movie is nonsense. Zoroastrians, who were the real ancient persians were just about the opposite as portrayed in the movie 300. Very civil, respectable people, The Zorastrians were completely tolorable people and guess what religion the 3 wise men in the bible where? Yes thats right, Zoroastrians. I am completelt blown away by the gory, inhuam depiction of the Ancient Persians. Some of the great Persians were Cyrus the Great, and Darius the Great. Very respectable people who never took slaves, and when entering Babylon, they were fascinated by the Jewish people, and ALLOWED them to keep practicing their religon. The Jews were most grateful, and looked upon Zoroastrians as very courteous, and respectable people. Also, Zorastrians were not black, or dark brown, and most certainly not the monsters they portrayed. The Ancient Persians were light skinned, some with colored eyes, and descendents of an Indo European race. They were known as the true aryan race, one later that Hitler would obsess over and claim as his own. Persians were very civilized, the men treated their wives, and mothers with absoulte respect and I hate the way 300 portrays EVERYTHING. If you want some history lessons, just look up Zoroastrianism. It is a very fascinating religon, and I am honored to have such unique herritage. I want nothing to do with attacking anyones opinion, just take my word and check out the real truth! I'm not as literate about Sparta as you must be, so I would very much know your criticism about this movie and as many of the historical flaws, Hollywood has successfully "implemented".
There must be... well at least 300, I'd say. ;-)

But still, this won't spoil my fun with it, because I'm basically going to watch it for its pure, raw visual overkill.
Don't watch 300 for the plot.
Don't watch 300 for historical education.
Don't watch 300 because it is a well acted, delicatelly developed movie.

Watch it for BLOOD, DEATH AND VENGEANCE!!!! :D

i thought the monsters was a little unnessisary. but overall the movie was real good.

I have watched a good movie like that in a long time !

9/10 easy
