Forthcoming Biggies: Eklavya, Honeymoon Travels, Nishabd, Red

Eklavya, the third biggie of 2007 after Guru and Salaam-e-Ishq, is all set to hit theaters this Friday. It's been eagerly awaited for all the right reasons - Amitabh Bachchan coming in a Vidhu Vinod Chopra movie for the first time besides stellar cast comprising of Sanjay Dutt, Saif Ali Khan, Vidya Balan, Jackie Shroff among others. But the best part is that it's only 2-hour long, which is the USP of Eklavya. The short length will most certainly ensure that it would be a gripping tale with no scope for routine song-n-dance numbers. If the movie is a hit, I am sure this trend should take off big time signalling good times ahead.

The other movie to watch out for this Feb is Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd. Going by the promos, and the interesting cast of Shabana Azmi, Boman Irani, Abhay Deol, Minissha Lamba, Kay Kay Menon, Raima Sen, Amisha Patel and Ranvir Shorey, it does look very promising. Songs are already making their way up the charts. It's releasing on Feb 23.

March 2 would witness two dabba-bandh movies - Big Brother (earlier titled Deodhar Gandhi) and Nehle Pe Dehla. Not much to write about them. But the other two more hot-n-happening movies releasing the same day are Nishabd and Red. One is a love story while the other is a lust story. Love Story between a 60 year old and a teenager. Sounds interesting. Let's see how RGV presents this Indianised version of Lolita. On the other hand, Red's promos of Aafreen and Aameen songs have already generated enough heat to light the big screen on fire. Celina Jaitley and Aaftab might well have a winner at their hands.

As a vivid movie watcher, I am excited as usual. What do you think of these movies?
