The New Avatar Of KBC
‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ met with phenomenal success in its’ last seasons when hosted by one of the reigning legends of Bollywood- Mr. Amitabh Bachchan himself. Now the show is back once again after a break in an all new avatar and with an equally popular brand new host- none other than Shah Rukh Khan or very wisely titled as the King Khan of the Indian Film Industry.
The show begins with a more frivolous, flashy music and song sequence and there certainly have been a few changes in the terminology of KBC, like the popular “Lock Kar Diya Jaaye” to “Freeze Kar Diya Jaaye”. The format, rules and regulations still remain the same and the maximum prize money to be won as Rs 2 Crores.
But there are doubts doing rounds in the air regarding if Mr. Khan will be able to match the sophistication and class imparted to the show earlier by Mr. Bachchan. There certainly is an air of charm wrapped around the two celebs and an aura that works upon the Indian audience like magic. However, will it be easy to erase the persona of Amitabh Bachchan (which has become the benchmark for KBC) from the so attuned and conditioned minds of the Indian audience? Shah Rukh Khan may appeal to the audience, for his witticism and playful energy that exudes a more younger look to the show and it definitely takes a lot of practice and guts to be in the shoes of Big B, and deliver a challenging and an equally acceptable show. But somewhere or the other, the grandeur of representing a show which involves Rs. 2 Crores at stake through knowledge, wisdom & intellect, seems to be gravely missing. The royalty attached with the notion of becoming a “Crorepati” seems to be lacking here, something so evident earlier.
Amitabh Bachchan certainly made KBC a household name to reckon with and popularized it among the masses and the classes. Successful campaigning and punch lines such as “Nau Baj Gaye Kya” became the order of the day and also brought Bachchan back into the much needed limelight after a long hiatus.
Shah Rukh on the other hand takes new and different dimensions with “Ek Sawaal Zindagi Badal Sakta Hai” and “Mai Aapka Intezaar Kar Raha Hun”. He has also personalized the show with “Gale Lagaa Lo” instead of “I Quit”.
The initial huge excitement of Shah Rukh Khan hosting a reality show, for the first time, has definitely made the Indian audience stand up and take notice but now to capture, conquer and sustain the idiot box in every Indian home will take a lot more effort and preparation as KBC has so far been synonymous with Amitabh Bachchan.
Here’s wishing Mr. Shah Rukh Khan- “All The Luck” !!!
And all of those who have not seen KBC 3 yet, here's one episode for you:

Re: The New Avatar Of KBC
SRK cannot match Big B's personality. Big B touched everyone's heart thru KBC, which SRK can never do. He is not that modest/humble, to begin with. He has certain air of rudeness which does not go well with this kinda show. And his desperare attempts to overtake Amitabh are undoing whatever fame he earned earlier.
I am not a very big Amitabh fan but a close look at his career does reveal one thing:
mid 70s: Amitabh started ruling bollywood. Rajesh Khanna tried not to but finally he had to give up.
later 70s: Vinod Khanna tried to become No. 1. No doubt he was better looking and a good actor, but he did not have that Big B charisma and he ended up doing insignificant roles in Amitabh's movies. Result - he got frustrated and landed up at Osho's.
mid 80s: Mithun da was called No.11 in the industry - 1 to 10 being rightfully reserved for Amitabh Bachchan
late 80s: Anil Kapoor was called the Next No. 1 and he even took it very seriously. That was his undoing. Result - films flopped one after the other. today Anil Kapoor is just another actor.
early 90s: after some flops and some hits, Amitabh took a self-imposed exile for 6 years. that was the time when these 3 Khans took over and ruined the movie industry with the same kinda mushy mushy love stories - except for Aamir of course.
2000: after a few comeback hiccups, Amitabh returned to where he belonged - right at the top - with KBC and Mohabbatein.
Ever since then, he is giving hits after hits every year, roles are written specially for him....that has made SRK go mad and he's desperately trying to better Amitabh. He did not learn from the failure of Don. Rumors are that he wants to remake Deewar now. C'mon SRK, you are a good actor but dun overrate yourself. And now KBC proves yet again that who is the Shahenshah and the real Don.
Stay away SRK else you would be another Rajesh Khanna, Vinod Khanna, Mithun da, Anil Kapoor etc. etc. who all tried to replace Amitabh as the No.1 but as u know they could only try. Result: Amitabh is still here ruling the industry while they are finished.
