Shah Rukh Khan at Madame Tussauds

I guess if a nation of billion people loves you then you ahve every reason to be immortalised

But i don't understand why do people love SRK. He got plain lucky. I am a big movie buff, watch all movies, sometimes more than once. But i don't think I will ever watch a SRK movie more than once, well maybe except Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. Most importantly, i don't think I'll ever remember a SRK performance maybe except Darr, DDLJ and Swades because all other are almost the same and  irritatingly repeatative.

On the other hand, take Aamir for example. He has so many memorable performances - QSQT, JJWS, Lagaan, DCH, RDB, AAA, Rangeela and many more. No one can disagree here that all these movies have repeat values.

Even Abhishek Bachchan and Saif Ali Khan for that matter. They do so many wide range of roles. Abhishek in Yuva, Guru, Sarkar, BluffMaster, Bunty n Babli, Dhoom....while Saif in Omkara, Being Cyrus, Ek Haseena Thi, Hum Tum, Kal Ho Na Ho, DCH in addition to his earlier hits like Yeh Dillagi, Main Khiladi Tu Anari, etc.

Hrithik is doing great too. Sanjay Dutt and Anil Kapoor have had wonderful careers and still going strong.

That brings me back to my question - Don't you think SRK has been plain lucky to be called King Khan and No. 1 etc. just like Aishwarya Rai, who apart from having a good marketing agent and beautiful face n body does not have anything else (read acting talent).

One advice to SRK: Do not compare yourself to Amitabh Bachchan. You are nowhere close to him. You need to first catch up with the above mentioned actors first. You are just another Jubilee Kumar (Rajendra Kumar) who gave max hits in his times but no one even remembers him now.

Totallly agree with Sneha. this guy is very very fortunate. he has always received more than he deserved. 6 filmfares...comeon guys...so many other good actors are waiting....his stupid movies with his gay partner karan johar are declared hit. time may be good for him..but he should remember it will never be the same. a fall with a big thud is going to be culminating point in his career.

I disagree with both of you, He is an excellent actor and you think that his films are repeatative because he is most of the time a lover, but still all his movies have a different story such as in KKHH, V-Z, Devdas, MHN, Baazigar etc. I admit he is not better than Amitabh Bachan but right now he the King and has done much better films than Aamir and is also much better looking than Aamir.

Sonya is absolutely right as he is a marvellous actor and has done classic films. There obviously is a reason why he is called King Khan. He is a charming man and he also doesnt compare himself with Amitabh Bachan but only has respect for him and his work.
All i can say about SRK is that he is just the best actor of his generation and will continue to be.

i agree with everyone, SRK has worked his way up to becoming the KING. He has devoted his life to acting and showbiz.. his films have taken new heights of enjoyment. All of his fans are proud of what he is doing and will remain doing so. i personaly think it is good that he his being displayed in Madame Tussauds, because more people would recognize his work and also they would see him with Amitabh Bachchan and the beautiful Ashwariya Rai. People should be proud that he has been given this opportunity to be in Madame Tussauds and resent it.

Im not a great SRK fan but I like him for his screen presence (just like Hrithik), his suaveness(like Saif Ali), his charm(like Abhishek Bachchan), his depth(like Aamir Khan) and his unique personality(which sets him quite apart). Agree that he's not as versatile as say, Amitabh Bachchan...but then, he's in himself a phenomenon which happens once or twice in a millenia, so comparing with Amitabh does no one no good. When ppl say about repetitive performance, I guess he's the one who came up with quite different characters at the start of his career (remember, Bazigar, Darr, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na and then DDLJ). Of late, he may be featuring a little too much in the mushy mushy movies of Karan Johar, but then, everyone has a lean season in his/her life (Amitabh...jadugar, akela, lal badshah, etc....Sourav Ganguly and Sachin). So no great men is infallible :)

Shahrukh Khan is the reigning king of bollywood, no one can take that from him. For the people who say he got lucky you should think or read boefore you  make statements. He came to Mumbai with nothing, worked his way up. Starred in programs, theatre, and then he got a break in movies. He started his job from 15000 rupees, and when he did Kabie Haan Kabie Naa, the director said, "yeh mahanti larka hai, 15 nahi, 25000 daydo." Now he just took 13 crores for Don, and that proves he's hard working. Everyone needs luck, you need it too, I need it too, and why I can't Shahrukh be lucky, his hard work is paying off. SO, you people who claim he does the same thing, why the hell does bill gates do the same thing, why doesn't he become an actor, WHY, because he's making a hell lot of money, so why would the directors and priducers who make millions from Shahrukh's image wanna change that, are they dumb? For the record, Swades, and now Chak De India, they are a hell lot different from DDLJ and etc. What do you mean by all movies are the same, isn't love the same, now how the hell can you protray love differently. So, he did not get PLAIN LUCKY, he's the badshah of bollywood, the man who holds the throne to bollywood, and the biggest superstar in the world, SHAHRUKH KHAN, learn to respect his work, understand it, just stop the ignorance, cause no matter what you say, Allah will still bless him, in whatever he does and whatever he thinks, because he has an element of truth in his work, and works for every penny. Why is it that we cannot appreciate what a person does based on their own merit? As long as we make comparisons, what's right in front of our very noses will go unnoticed! Shah Rukh should be judged purely on what he has achieved - and this his has done over a very long career, rather than looking at how he measures up with someone else, especially one who has/is popular. Not fair I say.
I agree with Gaul Malik - SRK has come a long way., starting with threatre, then on to television, and movies. No one does the romantic hero quite like him and for this we ladies adore him. I'd like to point out however, that he's liked not only for the roles he plays, but also because there's more to the man than the actor. He's got presence, style, wit and a host of other attributes other movie stars could only dream about. He's not the King for nothing!

You guys are all correct. Last night I read SRK's biography 1 and biography 2. It is online. He is a super, super guy. Very ambitious, very good even though he has average looks. Ok, he is called Badshah Khan and King Khan BUT he should not try trump Amitabh at each and every turn. On reading his bio I have come to realize he thinks in terms of being a Muslim in Hindu India. That's his stupidity. He also is very self-effacing. We watched the Filmfare awards a couple of nights ago on Feb 26'07. It was being broadcast here in CA at the same time the Oscars were on. He was the MC and very so-so. But, humble. Called himself 'demented' after he made fun of the foreign gal by speaking badly to her in Hindi. I suppose his idea was to make the audience laugh. Nobody laughed. In fact, very few people clapped when he asked the audience to do. I admire and say he is a Badshah in his own right. Ok, SRK fine. Be it. Be the Badshah or King Khan. But, stay away from the footsteps of Amitabh Bachhan. Just stay away, kid. Yes, you are a kid and a stupid kid if you think you're a Muslim ruler of secular India. In his bio he feels that he is the 'chosen' one to 'rule' India. For that he wants to make sure he is better than Amitabh Bachhan. Lay-off Shah Rukh Khan, SRK. Just move on. Do your own thing. U could just scroll through his latest comments in printed or tv media,how desperate he is, to include himself at Madame Tussads(can be done only an egoistic person who is just jealous of stardom of other actors).This does not prove that i dont like him,but name a few films;Kabhi ha KAbhi Naa, Raj type or Devdas type characters are othe only one he can enact,Swadesh was truely exceptional film,but it was directorial approach of Ashutosh Gowarikar which can make any character look great.Give Sharukh the character played by Amitabh Bachann in Black,or Saif in Omkara,Abhisekh in Guru,Aamir in Lagaan,Hritick in D-2,ohhh...i am sure,where film would land(in the junk yard).Its just the media hype and very good luck which raised him up above all.

Billions of persons can't be simultaneously wrong. I wish I could prove I'm the greatest fan of him. But then there's a billion like me trying just the same. I think people hate him out of pure jealousy. He is a wonderful person. I think he is the most charismatic person in whole India. He started out in his journey with nothing--- now there's nothing to stop his journey(pure pure hard work, honesty, and confidence). I accept that Amitabh is a great actor and he is often depicted as god by people who has grown up seeing him and being his fan. That's natural. I've grown up being a fan of SRK. In future there will someone new who will become the new King, may be he'll be even better than SRK but then also I'll say to my next generation," nah man! no one can be like Shah Rukh. He was the god and still is the god...." --- that goes with the fans. The present so called critics have grown up being a fan of Amitabh Bacchan so he enjoys a lot of partiality. I have to agree with ganjawala regarding bhatia's comments. Bhatia needs an eductaion in sociological perspectives before utilising the word 'secular', because to conclude that India is secular as you mentioned, you clearly have a lack of culture and education. Im not convinced you know how to use that word in its correct context nor do you seem to realise that you need to be able to define the term before using it. Also, it must be appreciated that every generation has its leading stars, the recent one's being Dillip Kumar (Yusuf Khan), then Amitabh..and most recently SRK himself. You can't compare the 3 to one another at all, simply due to the modernisation of technology and the changes brought about over the years in the way people think. These last 2/3 generations have have seen changes in people's way of living which consequently influences how people view matters. Changes in people's taste are rapidly changing. All performers have their good films and bad films, but its not a terrible thing to be part of a bad film...what's key is that the performer acknowledges what he/she can learn from the bad performance/bad film and work hard to prevent another performance like that. Every member of the public and critic has their own benchmark, their own expectations and so forth. SRK has done very well to be recognised at MT in London. I enjoy watching some of his films, I think he plays negative roles very well. Look forward to his forthcoming work.

Shuaib good points.....I don't think its got anything to do with what religion you belong to. Honestly who knows most of the shit about SRK and BigB rivalry that you hear is concocted by the media....the same media that spent 4 days talking about Rakhi Sawant and Mika Singh's kiss....so there you go....that's their credibility.....I wish people would talk more about how to promote younger talented actors and directors so we see better films then comparing SRK with Amitabh when we all know that each was a superstar in their generation and will go down in Bollywood hall of fame regardless of who is better.....

The corporate world is not fool that he is hiring SRK for brand promos. You people talk about saif, hrithik amitabh but u ppl i think dont know that in current segment he is the only actor who is appearing in more then one advert. on TV where as amitabh is in very few ones. Sneha, you may call yourself a 'movie buff' but you obviously dont know much about it. So it would be better for you to watch your movies and keep your absurd comments to yourself.
Not only is SRK a fantastic actor and entertainer, it is SRK who has taken Bollywood worldwide to people, even in places such as Africa and Poland etc.
