My Top Ten "Holy Shit" Moments in Movies: Part 2

Welcome back homies, hope y'all had a great weekend. While you are sitting there on your desks on Monday, partly hungover and looking at that computer watch and thinking is it lunch yet, I thought I would give you some interesting stuff to read about. Here is the second part of my "holy shit" series.

The two warnings that I had in part 1, "R Rating" and "Spoiler Alert" are true for this one too. I have videos in here that might affect some people so consider yourself warned and please be over 18 before you click on it. Now back to our scheduled programming, here's the remaining five for you.....

The Shining -  One of my favorite horror movies ever. Jack Nicholson is brilliant as usual and his wife who actually is the innocent one, looks the scariest!! It's the story of an unsuspecting, happy American family. The husband, who is a writer accepts a job as a manager for a resort up in the Rockies during the winter season. The place is shut down for a few months when it snows heavily and the entire movie takes place during that period, when this family of three is left all alone, or are they? There are a ton of imaginary people to give them company and the movie takes us on one scary ride.

The scene that I am talking about is the one where Jack's wife starts reading his husband's 1000 page manuscript and it has one line on it over and over again, " All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy". The reason why this scene is important and marks the turning point in the movie is because the only reason why the family was in that spooky place, was for Jack to finish his book. However when she sees that one sentence typed page after page, she realizes that something is horribly wrong.  Watch the scene....I don't have the part when she actually reads the manuscript

The Shawshank Redemption - A story of a banker, with thoughtful eyes and innocent face, who brutally murdered his wife and her lover and is sent to prison to serve two life sentences back to back. The movie's beauty is in creating the realistic prison ambience, it's almost as if you are an inmate. You accept the pace of the movie and you settle in the rhythm. Will Andy be able to get the funds for his library? will the wise kid get his diploma? You laugh on the ironic jokes and you feel sad at the desperation of these people. But before you know, almost twenty years have passed and then comes the morning when Andy doesn't step out of his cell. His friends think he's committed suicide because he came asking for a rope the other day. When the cops bust in his cell, there's no sign of Andy. Where on earth did he go? That's when the scene I am talking about comes. The wardon throws a stone at the poster and it goes right through it. All you hear is the sound of the stone hitting the walls of a narrow tunnel repeatedly until it hits a fat pipe and comes to a halt. Everytime I watch this movie with someone who's watching it for the first time, at this very moment, their eyes widen and they look at me and say different variations of holy shit. That's the magic of movies....

Irreversible- Remember all those warnings I gave you in the beginning, well it was because of this next clip. I repeat it again and whatever you have seen up to this point is nothing compared to this scene from the movie Irreversible. Gasper Noe's 2002 French movie is one of those flicks, that leave you a bit confused as to whether you like it or hate it? It's a brutual story that unfolds in a reverse-chronological manner, much like Memento, relating us the events of one night. It's the story of beautiful Alex (Monica Bellucci) that gets raped and beaten by a stranger in the underpass and how her boyfriend and ex-lover go out hunting for the rapist. The movie starts off in a gay club with Blair Witch type jerky camera movements, which if you are too drunk can make you throw up. With each passing scene you get increasingly confused, trying to follow the subtitles and hoping that this movie better be worth all the hype. And then bang (no pun intended) comes the scene, the most brutal rape scene ever. Forget about the woman who goes through this ordeal, just watching the scene could traumatize a lot of men. I for one am not affected by most of the stuff I see, but when I saw this one, I was like, WTF did I just see. Next day I told a few friends of mine to watch the movie and they came back saying, "you're one sick bastard" and if you enjoy the scene below.....you are too!!

Monica Bellucci - Irreversible - video powered by Metacafe

American History X -  All those who think Fight Club is Ed Norton's best movie, need to watch this. Hard hitting story of young Derek Vinyard (Edward Norton) who ends up in prison for killing two young black males. He returns from prison to find his younger brother, Danny (Edward Furlong), caught in the same web of racism and hatred that landed him in prison. After Derek's father is killed in the line of duty by a minority, Derek's view of mankind is altered, but while in prison, he discovers that there is good and bad in every race. The task before him now is to convince Danny of his newfound enlightenment and it's not going to be easy. The movie blends flashbacks beautifully to show us the real America and how troubled some of these young men and women are. Ed Norton gives his best performance ever, his transformation from a Neo Nazi to a responsible young man is simply great. Watch the scene, that shows the brutal crime because of which Norton ends up in prison and tell me if it doesn't make you wince....

The Ring - Don't you understand Rachel, she never sleeps, the little boy explains to his mom, while blood flows down his nose and the scene cuts to Martin Henderson's apartment where the tv set switches on by itself. I remember the entire theatre just went, Oh my fucking God!! what happens after is one the scariest scenes I've ever seen. I could only find a parody video, but keep an eye for the parts where Martin Henderson (he was the dude in Bride and Prejudice) is watching his tv and little Samara Morgan comes out of the well and out of his screen.....holy shit run for your life!!

Almost made it - Others that could have made it, but fell short - Memento, Kill Bill, Matrix 1, Jurassic Park 1, Jaws, Reservoir Dogs, Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the original), Exorcist, City of God.....

Re: My Top Ten "Holy Shit" Moments in Movies: Part 2

my submission for "holy shit" movie scene

I cant find the clip anywhere but if you know it/see it you will understand!

PRIMAL FEAR (Richard Gere/Ed Norton) 1996

Ed norton is a "timid/stuttering" (hard to describe) choir boy and has been arrested for the murder of a priest.

There is a scence in his cell with his lawyer (Gere). where he.... how do I say it without spoiling for those who have not seen it.... umm ok, where he *changes* his demeanor towards Gere.

Here is a link to the trailer
