I absolutely loved this soundtrack. I'd not heard Ilaiyaraja before - I am sadly completely ignorant of southern films and I hadn't encountered his handful of Hindi soundtracks - but listening to *Cheeni kum* made me run out and listen to some of his other work. *Cheeni kum* is so wonderfully melodic; the rhythms are playful and the orchestration both crisp and cinematic. I love it!
